1,500 women say hello

We know that periods are not always fun. So we got in touch with 1,500 women, including many in the United Kingdom, to find great tips on making them a bit better. And we were so intrigued to see what helps them feel good that we thought you’d like to see too.

In fact, it was such a positive response that we’ve decided to publish new tips every month. So if there’s something that really works for you, whether it’s a brisk walk, super-hot bath or even something totally quirky, tell us - we’d love to hear it.

And we’ll post a selection of your latest top tips right here, each month.

Top tips from ladies like you

Drink more (water that is!)
Getting that bloated feeling? It may sound strange but one way to reduce fluid retention is to actually drink more water. So if you want those jeans to slide on, six to eight glasses a day should do the trick.
Get into yoga
So you might not feel like exerting yourself during your period. Some simple yoga positions and breathing techniques are perfect for relieving stress and discomfort. Finding that inner calm is only an 'asana' away.
Have a monthly massage
From a tummy rub in a clockwise direction to ease cramping, to a lower back massage to ease away back pain, massage has been proven to ease the tension, discomfort and hormone imbalance that are part and parcel of your period.
Try some therapy of the aroma kind
Essential oils from herbs are surprisingly essential to some women to get them through their period. A drop of Clary Sage on a tissue or your pillow eases irritability and helps you sleep whilst Roman Chamomile eases cramps.
Wearing comfortable clothes and shoes
You said it... if it's tight, you won't feel right. From your best cashmere cardigan to your favourite little black dress, clothes that skim the body but don't restrict your movement will help you feel comfortable but still stylish.
